Description:

This crispy cookie is both a wonderful aid to digestion and soothing upset bellies because of the anise seed, and wonderful on its own, particularly with tea.

Ingredients

1
1/2 c. canola oil (or other bland oil)
1
1/2 c. sugar (or less, depending on taste, we usually add ~1 c.)
4
c. flour
1/2
c. water
3
eggs
1/2
c. anise seeds
4
tsp. b. powder
1
tsp. b. soda
pinch salt

Directions

1.
Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, anise seeds and sugar. Make a well in the center (as if you were making pasta). In well add eggs, oil, and water. Incorporate dry ingredients slowly into the well. Mix until all is incorporated.
2.
Shape as desired. My grandmother makes little tube-shaped biscuits and then makes an indentation on the top with two knuckles.
3.
Bake at 375 degress for 12-15 minutes or until golden.
