Ingredients
6
teabags black tea (I used English, because thats what I had on hand that was fresh)
2
cups Sugar (or not
thats what the original, but weve cut that way back over the years
I use about half that much)
Directions
1.
Boil the spices in the water for 5 minutes, then remove the pan from the heat, fish the spices outta there, and put in the tea bags to steep for 3 - 5 minutes, depending on how strong you like it. (I go for 5 minutes.)
2.
While youre boiling and steeping, squeeze every last wonderful drop of juice from the lemons and oranges, and pour the juice through a strainer to get rid of the seeds and the largest bits of pulp.
3.
When the tea is as strong as you want it, take out the teabags and add the sugar, stirring until dissolved, then pour in the fruit juices and mix thoroughly.
4.
Reheat to drinking temperature and enjoy!
5.
If youre not working or driving or something and you want to give it a little added punch (har, matey!) its very tasty topped off with a splash (or two) of spiced rum. Captain Morgans is the brand we usually buy.

Notes: You can substitute 1 1/8 cups orange juice instead of the 3 oranges. I used about 1/4 cup sugar, but do the sugar 'to taste'. Depends on how sweet your oranges are and how sour your lemons
