Description:

This is one from my mother-in-law from Israel. I love these and they make the house smell so yummy during baking.

Ingredients

1
package frozen puff pastry
1
cup almonds (finely chopped - almost like sea salt consistancy)
1/2
stick butter, melted
1
tbsp cardamom
1/2
cup sugar
(you can adjust all items to taste eventually)

Directions

1.
Preheat oven to 350
2.
Thaw the puff pastry according to package instructions and spread on a piece of waxed paper.
3.
Combine sugar and cardamom.
4.
Brush the pastry with melted butter.
5.
Sprinkle chopped almonds and sugar mixture over the buttered pastry.
6.
Cut pastry into small squares (approx. 3" x 3" depending on how long you want them to be. I use a rolling pizza cutter.
7.
Roll each square into a cigar-type roll and place open side down on a greased cookie sheet. Repeat until all are rolled and placed on the sheet. Leave a small amount of room between each to allow a little growth.
8.
Bake about 15 minutes but watch closely. Don't allow them to darken too much. You want them to be a little browned and crispy but not too dark.
