Description:

Charoset is a sweet, dark-colored, lumpy paste served during the Passover Seder. Its color and texture recall the mortar with which the Israelites bonded bricks when they were enslaved in Ancient Egypt. There are as many recipes for charoset as there are Jewish families.

Ingredients

* 3 ounces (75g/3/4-cup) walnuts
* 1/4 large cooking apple
* Kosher wine to moisten
* 2 level tsp cinnamon
* 2 level tsp sugar

Directions

1.
Mince the walnuts and the apple. (You can use the food processor for this.)
2.
Moisten with the kosher wine and flavor with cinnamon and sugar.
3.
The consistency should be that of mortar.
