Peel and halve onion length wise. Place onion on flat side and cut width wise. Crush onion with your hands to separate arches. Place a small skillet on medium low heat. Melt butter in skillet than put in the onions. Salt and pepper onions to taste. Mix periodically until they start to sweat. Break open eggs into skillet. Watch the heat so that the onions aren't frying too quickly. Once the egg whites have congealed use your spatula to separate the eggs to scoop them up. Serve with toasted bread and a cup of black tea.
