Description:

I tried many different hot dog onion recipes. I mixed and matched them til I got the perfect combination. I was trying to come up with a copycat for the Coney Island kind... and this is definitely the one!!!

Ingredients

Tbls. Corn oil
1
large onion - minced
2
Tbls. tomato paste
salt - to taste
pepper-
pinch
1/2
cup water
1
Tsp. chili powder
1
1/2 Tsp. hot pepper sauce (Frank's)
cayenne pepper - pinch
1
Tsp. sugar
1
Tsp. yellow mustard

Directions

1.
Heat oil in a med. size skillet on med/high heat.

Add onions and cook til onions are very limp and all fluid is evaporated.

Add all the seasonings and simmer uncovered for a few minutes.

Add tomato paste and water.
Upload Image
5.
Simmer uncovered again til it reduces in half.

6.
Serve ontop of hot dogs.
