Loaf of French Bread, cut in half lengthwise

large roma tomatoes, sliced

oz. mozzarella cheese, sliced

1/2 cups canned tomato sauce (or 1/2 cup of your own favorite tomato sauce)
1/2
cup fresh basil chiffonade, lightly packed (chiffonade = cut into thin strips)
salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste
Directions

1. Pre-heat oven to 475 degrees F.

2. For 5 minutes slightly toast the bread.

3. Put the tomato sauce over the bread.

4. Top with basil, then put tomato slices and then cheese.

5. Bake for about 12 to 15 minutes.

6. Broil for 1 to 2 minutes to make the tops brown.
