Ingredients

C all purpose flour
1/3 C sugar
1 T poppy seeds
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 C chilled solid vegetable shortening
1/2 stick chilled unsalted butter
1/3 cup sour cream
1 large egg
2 tsp almond extract
Food processor
Baking Sheet

Directions

1.
Cut shortening into pieces
Cut butter into pieces
Preheat oven to 400°F
Mix first 5 ingredients in food processor
Add the shortening and butter
Process until mixture looks like coarse meal.
Whisk the sour cream, egg and almond extract in sm bowl.
Add to the flour mixture in processor and pulse just until dough forms ball.
Transfer the dough to lightly floured work surface.
Press dough into 15 x 3-inch rectangle.
Cut into six 3 x 2 1/2-inch pieces.
Cut each piece diagonally in half to form 12 triangles.
Place the pieces on a heavy large baking sheet, spacing 1 inch apart. Bake for15 minutes
