Description:

This is a delicious braised rib recipe. It takes a long time, but it is super easy to make. Accompanied by a home made fried rice it is delicious.

Ingredients

high quality short ribs (2-3 lbs)
salt
1/2
yellow onion (sliced thinly in mandolin)
1
T garlic
1
T fresh ginger (peeled)
A little less than 1/4 cup soy sauce
3
T ketchup (I like the kind with no HFCS)
2
T rice vinegar
ground black pepper
red pepper flakes
sesame seeds
about 1/2 lb bok choy (washed and cut lenghtwise)

C chicken broth
You will need a mandolin, a dutch oven and a food processor

Directions

1.
Heat your oven to about 450 F
2.
Wash the ribs, pat them dry
3.
Sprinkle salt over them
4.
Out the onions on top
5.
Put them in the dutch oven & cover them
6.
Bake them for 30 minutes
7.
In food processor chop the garlic and ginger
8.
Add soy sauce, ketchup, rice vinegar, black pepper
9.
Mix
10.
Add red pepper flakes and sesame seeds (to taste - do not process)
11.
When the timer hits 30 minutes, take the dutch oven out
12.
Pour the sauce over the ribs and add chicken broth to the bottom of the pot
13.
Lower the temperature to about 350 and set timer for 2 hours
14.
Take the pot out, add the bok choi and leave in for 10 minutes
15.
All done
