ripe pears (or canned pear halves )

ounces (1 cup) cream cheese

ounces almond slivers, chopped and toasted

tbsp tomato ketchup or puree

Form the cream cheese into small balls and roll in the almonds; chill for one hour. If using fresh pears, peel, core and cut into halves, if using canned pears, drain. Brush with lemon juice immediatley to prevent discoloration. Mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, cream, tabasco, worcester, salt and pepper together in a medium sized bowl then place the cheese balls into the center of the pear halves and pour the spicy mayonnaise sauce over the pears. serve chilled.
