Ingredients

1/2
pound Cooked Ham, diced
2
(16 ounces) bag Split Peas, rinsed
2
large Celery stalks, chopped
2
large Carrots, coarsely chopped
2
Garlic Cloves, chopped
1
large Onion, coarsely chopped
10
cups Chicken Stock
1
tsp Dried Thyme Leaves
1
Bay Leaf
1/2
tsp Coarse Salt

Directions

1. In a large, heavy stockpot combine all the ingredients.

2 Using high heat let it reach the boiling pot.
3.
3. Lower down the heat.
4.
4. Cover and let it simmer, and don't forget to stir occasionally. Cook for 2 hours or wait until the vegetables are very tender. Add up to 2 cups of broth if necessary.

5. Season with salt, 1/2 tsp at a time but make sure to taste after each addition.
