Ingredients

1
c. shortening
1
c. butter
1
c. powdered sugar
1
c. white sugar
2
eggs, slightly beaten
2
t. vanilla
1
t. baking soda
1
t. cream of tartar
4
c. flour
1/2
t. salt

Directions

1.
Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. Chill dough for at least two hours or overnight. Make into balls and roll in sugar. During the holiday season you might want to roll them in red and green sugar. Use pastels in the Spring and for Easter. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes until the edges are turning brown.
