Super Cheap Macaroni and Cheese

Super Cheap Macaroni and Cheese

Description:

It's not really much of a recipe, since it's using a mix and just modifying it to make it taste really good, but it is a way to feed 3-4 people on a tight budget. There are definitely better recipes out there, but this is pretty good and could pass as made from scratch at a pot luck. The advantage of this is that it's very easy to make (even a child can do it), and you can feed a family of four for about $2.

Ingredients

2
boxes of macaroni and cheese. The cheap stuff in a box with the noodles and powder.
Butter and milk for the macaroni and cheese
1
can of condensed cream soup (cream of mushroom, cream of chicken, etc.)

Directions

1.
Prepare the macaroni and cheese according to the directions. When it's ready, add the can of soup. Do not add water, and do not cook the soup. Just plop it straight out of the can into the prepared macaroni and cheese. Mix well.
2.
The cream from the soup complements the macaroni and cheese, giving it a unique, flavorful taste. It makes it much more moist.
3.
For the soup, I usually use cream of mushroom, but found that cream of chicken is also very good. Pretty much any "cream of" soup should work, but I haven't tried anything but those two.
