Put the poppy seeds in a bowl and cover with boiling water.

Soak for about 3 hours.

Drain the poppy seeds in a very fine strainer (you can use a cheese cloth.

Press gently to extract most of the water.

Spread the seeds over a clean cheese cloth and pat dry.

Put the seeds into a large bowl.

Add the honey and vanilla and mash with a wooden spoon.

You will get a thick black paste.

Cook the pasta according to package directions.

Add the pasta to the poppy seed paste and mix with butter and raisins.
