There
There seem to be a love hate relationship with Tomoe Sushi. The long overrated line is another Magnolia plague in Manhattan. A lot of hype and not much substance. While the fish is fresh, it is certainly not superior. The sushi "chefs" are always changing therefore the food is too. The most certain tell-tale sign of mediocre sushi is that they cut all of them assembly line style before the crowd arrives. For $40 to $60 per person, you simply feel underwhelmed and abused (by the long waiting line and their disorganization). Maybe they can learn a thing or two from other neighborhood restaurants such as Mary's Fish Camp where they take down your cell phone number rather than make you wait like soup kitchen on Christmas. Ditch the line and make a right on Houston and head toward to Ushiwakamaru two blocks away for Tokyo style sushi adored by the packed Japanese crowd inside--A sign of approval.

Freshness
The sushi at this place is so fresh it feels like it melts in your mouth. It is kinda hard to get seated, so come early so you dont have to wait. My favorite is the Uni sashimi.
