Perfection
Last year I was out in Fort Lauderdale on business a friend suggested we drive down to Miami to experience Azul. Now mind you I was exhausted from a full day of meeting and the 1 hour drive (without traffic) did not sound appealing. Oh, how I was wrong.

We found the island after a bit of driving and the awe of which the Mandarin Orient was remarkable. The restaurant itself was decored in beautiful hues of blue and brown. The hostess was as gracious as the decor of the place. We promptly were lead tot he bar and our bartender suggested a nice glass of Malbec to accent the spice which is Miami (he actually said that.ha ha). In less then 10 minutes our table was ready and we sat down. The beauty of a restaurant of this level is usually the waitstaff. They can make or break a place where you are spending $60+ on a plate. The service was immaculate. Never throughout the night were we without water, wine, or any of the other small amenities. I have a test I always conduct when in a restaurant. Drop your fork and time how long it takes for your main waiter to notice. 2 minutes or below and you are in service heaven. If you have to ask it's only mediocre, and if they forget to bring it don't come back. Here in Azul 20 seconds a new record.

Our meal was amazing with a view of the bay and the city. Try the monk fish, it will make you weep.

I'd highly recommend Azul as most likely the top restaurant experience of 2006. Be prepared for a large bill though because restaurants of this level aren't cheap.

Hopefully this year will bring restaurant experiences like Azul.
