Don't go for table service or cloth napkins, but do go for excellent ribs, bbq chicken, baked beans and some great live music. Once you place your order at the counter, they have a really sweet guy who will top off your drinks and bring you whatever you need. You will see a broad cross section of Atlanta, from Buckhead businessmen to local artists and families. Their combo dinner of bbq chicken and ribs is the best deal in town. Call first to find out who's on tap to play and when. BBQ and blues have kept Fat Matt's in Atlanta for over 20 years.
Oh my goodness... the best ribs I've ever had. Their sauce and ribs are great, considering that some ribs are not meaty at all. Man but the meat that's on there is so tender it literally falls off the bone clean! Anyways, if you haven't tried this place, you are missing out!! Plus the service staff is awesome, the side dishes are ok, and the place is neat.
We had heard that Stingaree had BBQ crabs fixed like Sartins (and the old Grangers). They're not, but they are just as good, and definitely healthier. They are fixed with a marinade that seemed to be mostly worcestershire sauce and then GRILLED, giving them a most delicious smoky flavor. The grilled seafood platter was also delightful. There is a rather steep outside stairway and a tiny outside elevator that didn't work, and the tables were rather close together, but we'll be back. Those crabs were great.
