I absolutely love this place! Even though the atmosphere is rundown and the chairs, tables, and menus all feel like grease, Merritts is a really great place to eat. They are famous for their scones and for a good reason. I ordered the lemon scone with powdered sugar and it ran me a little over $4.00. It was well worth it. The scone was hot and moist, cooked to perfection, and it was covered in powdered sugar and whipped cream. I've had scones here before, but adding the lemon pudding to it made it so much better. Their coffee is O.K. but nothing to write home about. They do give you unlimited refills, so if you're a die-hard coffee drinker like me, that takes the cake.
Also, don't forget to bring some quarters along to feed the jukebox. That's half the fun, listening to the familiar tunes and hearing the whole restaurant break out in song during the choruses.
Make sure you get to Merritts if you are ever in the Boise area.
The food is good, as well as the service, but don't do too much of your drinking (alcohol) there, they some times over charge you.
