User Reviews for Typhoon Asian Bistro
Typhoon is located near Newbury, and as such, reflects a menu on the more expensive side. However, the price is well worth it as each dish is plated beautifully and tastefully. I haven't had a dish yet that wasn't absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere is upscale casual with good service. Servers I've encountered have never been anything but courteous and attentive, and I've observed how friendly they can with patrons unsure of the menu.
The menu offers a wide selection and when dishes come, they definitely don't skimp on size for the price. There are some expensive sushi options on the menu, but there is also a small paper menu on every table with a la carte sushi options that you fill in with a provided pencil and give to your server when you're ready. These options are definitely more affordable and reflect prices similar to what you'd find in other restaurants offering sushi.
This is a great date place as the restaurant is candlelit, plays music in the background, and has a fun, unique decor. On busy weekend nights especially, the wait can be up to 45 minutes, so either make a reservation or be prepared to wait - however, give it a try and it's well worth it.
I've also visited with a group of friends for someone's birthday. Though this isn't really the type of restaurant where they do birthday singing, our server was very accommodating and brought us delicious fried ice cream with a lit candle in the middle (no singing though).
I've had the sizzling crispy noodles with shrimp here, and they bring it out to you on a sizzling plate. It was delicious. Another great option is the sizzling lime and lemongrass steak - extremely tender with a light sauce. Friends have ordered sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and more, and all were extremely good.
