The ambiance was great, service was excellent, but the Eggplant appetizer was burnt, the salad I ordered was very small for it's price and contents (beets, greens, and sunflower seeds), and shockingly, the house Pinot Grigio was $12 - which is very high for the suburbs, even for Hinsdale and it's surrounding areas... |

This is a Chicago fast food institution. This may be one of my favorite Italian Beef sandwiches in the city. Nice peppery flavor. Tender thin beef. Fairly dry which is how I like my beef. You can get it dipped if you like a soggier beef. The fries and other menu items are fairly standard, decent though nothing special. There is a lot to here, so it will please groups.
I Ate:
- Big Beef: Italian Beef Sandwich ($7)

Recently during a Friday in lent I went to portillos. I was in Chicago for the day and had heard about the restaurant. I got a Yellowfin Tuna Sandwich which was delectable. I recommend everyone to try it whether it is Lent or not. After I ate it I went back and got another.
I Ate:
- Yellowfin Tuna Sandwich: delicious ($5)

This is a wonderful place to go for Italian Beefs. They have the bread baked fresh with a buttery twist. They Are often crowded inside and outside as well. With the added help that's well needed you can still get in and out quickly. Can you say fast and delicious
I Ate:
- Crousant Chedder Beef: Worth every penny ($5)

Portillo's is definitely a restaurant that holds true to the saying "absence makes the heart grow fonder." It may not seem like a stand out place on the surface, but once you're Portillo's deprived you'll definitely worship this place. They have very few vegetarian options (ie all I eat there is their veggie croissant and cheese fries), but it's definitely a must see place for tourists seeking some Chicago eats or the hometown crowd just looking for some nostalgia.

The best Chicago Dog you'll ever have. And if you have room, try their Italian Beef too.
