I know. The Walnut Room is almost a cliché. And, around the holidays, it’s a giant romper room. But, any other time of the year, it’s a great, quiet spot that is too often overlooked. The food is simple and well-made. They have traditional favorites, like their famous chicken pot pie, and, the only thing I ever get, the parmesan-crusted chicken with mustard-glazed carrots. You can get a nice inexpensive glass of wine. It’s quiet and relaxed. The room is beautiful, with dark woods everywhere. Service is friendly and understated. You can sit by the window and watch the city. It’s really a shame that people have forgotten about the Walnut Room. Stop here sometime other than Christmas and you’ll enjoy yourself. (Lunch is a perfect time!)
