User Reviews for Wow Bao

Overall Rating: 5.5 (Good)

The bao here were very doughy, which I didn't mind. But the filler quality? Yuck! I've eaten better meat on a Big Mac. On the other hand, it is quick, cheap, and in the Loop.

I ate:

Teriyaki Bao: Good bun, bad filler. ($2)

Bacon, Egg, and Chedder Bao: Pretty decent all around. ($2)

I had the BBQ Pork and teriyaki chicken bao. The buns are nice and warm and doughy. The filling for the pork was pretty tasty. It was shredded with a good spicy/sweet bbq. The teriyaki chicken I did not like as much. I have not had many bao to compare this to, but it was fast and inexpensive.

Wow Bao is a very unique place. They serve little doughy pasteries, filled with all kinds of meats and vegetables. They have many flavors (chicken teriyaki, kung pao chicken, spicy mongolian beef etc.) and all of them are delicious! They even have a vegetarian bao. The price of one bao is $1.35 I believe, and they are surpisingly filling. They are about the size of your fist, and I can usually eat two. If you are looking for a very cheap, filling meal, try out Wow Bao's.

turned to take in the Asian wonder that was Wow Bao. The quick-serve menu was full of healthy, steamed dumplings, stir-fries, multi-grain rice, and more. I was unfortunately full from a large lunch and was planning on a fantastic dinner, so I regretfully decided to pass on a Wow Bao sample. At least that was the plan until I spotted their poster advertising homemade Ginger Ale.
