I still chuckle at the name of the place. Sgt. Pepperoni’s is a good place to grab a quick bite when you’re either going to the Garden Bowl or the Magic Stick.
They deliver too! I never knew until I stayed down by Wayne State. Sure enough, Sgt. Pepperoni’s in my living room. What could be better?
They are strictly a pizzeria. They do not have sandwiches, salads, bbq wings, or anything like that. Pizza, beverages, and that’s it. It’s a limited menu, but they’ve been able to focus on make better pizzas this way.
The pizzas are decent. They’re not going to win any awards, mind you, but generally they’re tasty enough for the crowd that’s in the Majestic Theatre complex. I would warn that you might want to dab your slice with a napkin. Though they’re tasty, these slices are also greasy! Keep that in mind if those kind of pizzas bother you.
One thing I really like about Sgt. Pepperoni’s is pizza-by-the-slice and generally how quick service is. Buying just a slice is an easy way to get something in your stomach without having to wait for service at the Majestic café. It’s also pretty fast with the full-size pizzas, which are great when you’re at the Garden Bowl.
One downside is their lack of any seating area. The Majestic Café doesn’t take kindly to Sgt. Pepperoni customers using the café tables. If you’re going to just Sgt. Pepperoni’s, you’ll have to find a place to eat elsewhere.
