As it is a delivery service, there is no decor, and the food depends on where you get it, so I gave it ones in these categories on principle, because it is awful. Pony express is slow and charges wayyy to much. The menu they hand out has the prices altered from the restaurant prices, but doesn't acknowledge it. They tack on about $2 for every menu item, and then charge you a flat delivery fee, but a an additional fee for each item. I ordered some pad thai from lucky noodle, which cost about $12 at the time, and the delivery cost me $13. I wasn't given a total over the phone or else I would have cancelled. The delivery took a long time too, in the middle of the day (no car), because they have to call and order your food for you, then go pick it up, and then deliver it you. You are way better off ordering a pizza or walking somewhere close.
I'm writing this review in response to Anne's review of Pony Express. I think she is very confused. I am a Pony Express driver, so I am a little biased, but Pony Express is a great service.
I'm not sure who Anne called, or who she managed to get delivery from...but Pony Express doesn't now and hasn't ever delivered for the Lucky Noodle. There is absolutely no way you received delivery from Lucky Noodle via Pony Express. Maybe they have their own delivery? I don't know.
And, there is absolutely no chance in hell that you were charged $13 for the delivery fee. That is ludicrous. And, to top it off, it you also said that Pony Express tacks on an additional charge per item. Also ludicrous. As an employee I know that Pony has absolutely no control over menu prices. The Restaurants determine what prices they charge. It would be nuts to assume that a 3rd party delivery service has any say in what a Restaurant wants to charge it's customers.
Back to the delivery charge...it is $4.95 to almost everywhere in Eugene. There are a few exceptions to that. For example, if you are ordering from Chapala's to River Loop #2, about a 30 minute drive, it goes up to $5.95 or $6.95 (not sure which off-hand), which is still pretty reasonable for such a far distance. And, Pony's owner is now offering Daily Free Delivery Specials, offering a different Restaurant for free each day. And, if you order the day before you don't have to pay any delivery fee. And, Pony also offers Rapid Rewards points, so that every 10th order is free!
When the new owner of Pony Express took over a few years ago, she made every effort to lower the delivery fees, offer free deliveries, and give her employees raises, benefits, etc. Customer service is now amazing. If something is wrong, we will fix it. It is drilled into our heads that the customer is always right.
Please do me a favor and double check your facts before you post a terrible review on-line. It's really not fair to the business or it's employees like me who count on it to pay the bills. Pony Express is a good Eugene business. Sometimes the delivery might take an hour or so, but you have to remember that the Restaurant you ordered from might be across town from you, and may have a line out the door, and might be understaffed, etc....
