Koi, a concept from Bing Zhou (Chen"s Chinese and Sushi), serves a mish-mash of old Chinese favorites (sesame chicken, Peking duck) and inventive sushi like the eggplant roll, which consists of super-white tuna, spicy mayo and rice, wrapped in a thin slice of eggplant. Located in the heart of Evanston's restaurant row, this trendy spot pleads its case with several attractions: a sushi bar backed by gold mesh screens, lounge with working fireplace and sleek dining room. Save room for dessert with molten lava chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. At the bar, find specialty martinis and Mai Tais.
