Barby Ann's is a great local, Cape Cod eatery. It is located just behind the KMart plaza on route 132 in Hyannis. Unlike many local restaurants, it's open year-round. It can afford to stay open in the winter because the food is good enough that locals actually want to eat there! Barby Ann's offers a spacious dining room with plenty of seating, traditional American/pub food, and a great bowl of chowda! The parking lot can get a little crowded, especially when it's busy in the summer. However, they offer additional parking a short walk away, and many businesses in that area are closed during dinner time.
One of the things that keeps locals coming back is the friendly service. Many of the servers at Barby Ann's have been there for years. This is not a traditional Cape Cod rotating staff, where you'll never see the same face twice. The people who work at Barby Ann's love it there, and it shows in the quality of the service.
Another thing is their prices. Although the food is pretty traditional, they charge normal to low prices for it. The same meal would cost you about the same at a low-quality chain restaurant like Friendly's, but it would be much more delicious with bigger quantities at Barby Ann's.
Barby Ann's is a great place to grab a drink. They have a full bar, with seating. There are several TVs available to patrons in the bar.
Although this isn't a typical "tourist" eatery, offering nothing but fried seafood and a view of the sea, it does serve seafood. In season, they will serve fresh caught fish and crustaceans. Their terrific chowder is available year round.
- A burger: incredibly delicious, hot, and served with a smile. ($9)
