The food here is great. They have a large selection of sushi and nigiri. The decor is slightly low-budget looking, and the service is above average. The prices are very competitive compared to other local iowa city area sushi restaurants. I would recommend this place to any freind!
I generally like Sushi Popo, but I don't think it's quite as good as everyone in Iowa City seems to think it is. On my last two visits the waitstaff seemed a little overwhelmed by the weekend crowd and made a rather chaotic impression. I had the tonkatsu, one of my favorite Japanese dishes, on my last visit and it was good, but not the best I ever had. They also seems to have raised their prices a bit as compared to a few years ago. It's not outrageous, but perhaps a bit steep for a restaurant in a strip mall.
The food is wonderful and the view is awesome. Wonderful service and live music was very nice. Well worth the price. Will eat there often! George & Sharon Campbell, Lewis County, KY
