I'd heard pretty good things about Cafe Trio. So while I was in KC, I figured I'd give it a try. My first impression was that it was an average, somewhat artsy cafe/restaurant. I ordered the rack of lamb. It was a New Zealand lamb, which in my opinion is the best kind. I mean, the ratio of sheep to people there is like 16:1. I got to say, it took a lot longer to prepare than I expected. But when it did come, it was very tasty. The chef made good use of stone ground mustard. It came with a Trio dinner salad, which was fairly unique and pretty good. All in all, I'd rate the food as good, the service as somewhat poor, and the decor as above-average. I'd recommend the restaurant only if you have the whole evening to spend there.
