Tucked in between the dollar store and the pet groomers is a local gem. Merced's Restaurant is a small Mexican storefront featuring a big menu of selections.
There are daily specials usually advertised on the sandwich board outside. This is a really a take out place. While there's seating available, it consists of 3 hard plastic booths.
The menu is typical Mexican fare. Tacos, burritos, tortas, and shrimp cocktails. They also carry a wide selection of Mexican beverages like horchata and bottled Jarritos.
My favorite thing to order is the special. Typically this is something like three tacos or a burrito platter. Choices include carne asada, carnitas, chicken and fish. I have to give the cooks and owners here much credit- they'll tell you if they've run out of fresh fish for the day. I appreciate how they stand behind the quality of their food.
Merced's is a cash only operation and very value priced. I typically place my order first, do my neighborhood shopping, then come back for my food. They have an open kitchen so you can watch the cook hook up your food. They staff is friendly and will help you through the menu if needed.
The food is good! Carne asada and fish tacos and burritos are my favorites here and they don't disappoint. Merced's is generous with the side sauces (mild to hot, red and gren).
I haven't found a website for Merced's but they do have a printed take out menu next time you're in the area.
