My 'hood boasts two Mexican restaurant's one block from each other. Mi Lupita's is the nicer of the two. Special's are always advertised right outside. This is great because the menu has a lot to offer.
Inside is a full dining room. Comfy tables and booths, bar service and a juke box. Mi Lupita's is perfect for a night of casual dining. Maybe a date night? Or, just a seat by yourself to enjoy a hearty wet burrito platter and a draft beer or something from their huge selection of bottled beers.
Generally the food is on point. I have had two bad experiences though. I like to order the carne asada tortas and once got a sandwich that was waaaay to salty. The other downer was once getting a side of beans that ...just tasted weird. But aside from those two time I'm pretty satisfied when I eat here.
So more about the experience -Mi Lupita's offers dine in and take out. A friendly, uniformed staff of waitresses are quick on the take. Dine in service has always been good. Carry out is well packaged and also quick.
The food- Mi Lupita's has a full menu. Your usual Mexican fare plus nicer stuff like albondigas meatball soup, enchiladas, rellenos, tacos, and wet burritos. Best bang for the buck, and the taste buds, is probably the Daily Special (soup or salad + tamale, chile relleno, enchilada) for $7
You can't talk about Mi Lupita's and leave out the decor. Bathrooms are nice and clean. Things get questionable when you hit the dining room mural. Tres tacky...in a good way.
