Misoya Japanese Restaurant isn't much to look at. It's located in the crook of an indistinct strip mall. The sign is small and nothing of its outside appearance foretells the delicious meals to be had within. The sushi rolls are delicious and perfect. The rice is wonderfully seasoned, they are wrapped tightly enough, and the pieces are small enough to eat in one bite. Some of their best rolls are even topped with melt-in-your mouth tuna. The tuna is spiced and coated in rich sesame oil. The effect is spectacular. All of the sushi I’ve eaten elsewhere has been somewhat ho-hum, but Misoya’s is so spectacular you’ll want to come back again and again.
But Misoya’s delicious menu isn’t entirely sushi and sashimi. They also offer delicious renderings of Teriyaki favorites: chicken, beef, chicken katsu. At lunchtime they offer Bento boxes that pair their traditional teriyaki fare with sushi and gyoza.
For dinner there are a variety of stir-fried wok dishes and noodles. I recommend the beef yakisoba. The seasoning is rich and delicious with freshly stir-fried vegetables.
The décor is very traditional for a Japanese restaurant and the service (by the owners themselves) is polite and non-intrusive. You feel like you’re eating at a friend’s restaurant. The place is quiet and peaceful, a zen-like atmosphere. Misoya is the perfect backdrop to enjoy the truly delicious meal you’re about to enjoy. I would recommend Misoya to anyone who finds themselves in the Seattle area. It’s definitely worth the 20 minute drive north. Don’t miss it.
