Here is the Good, the BAD and the ugly of Maison d'Azur
(Please note that this was our first visit to Maison d'Azur and it was Valentines Day)
First the good...terrific atmosphere, really terrific, there was a vibe in the room that was electric. The DJ was playing a wide selection of music which seem to please everyones taste.
The menu, if you enjoy fresh seafood, you won't be disappointed (the seafood tower is a must).
Now the BAD...Wine list was weak....the service was a nightmare...without going into to many details, this place can not handle a busy night...the staff and the kitchen had there heads up their collective asses. (our main course did not arrive to our table until well after midnight....that's over 2 hours folks)....now the ugly...I am not one for conflict but this was surprising...I ordered the bouillabaisse ( when in Rome...French restaurant must make good bouillabaisse right?? wrong)...again I want to be clear here...over 2 hours waiting for our main courses...the bouillabaisse tasted like dish washing soap...and when this was mention to the waitress her response was " there is nothing wrong with it, I am from the south of France and that is how bouillabaisse is made"...I was blown away...I have eaten bouillabaisse all over the world and I have no reason to tell a waitress that something doesn't taste bad unless it did. But instead of saying "I am sorry sir" (I am the customer after all) she maintain that there was nothing wrong. Ok I will move on...It was a long night...we had a good time (we always have a good time where ever we go) but the ending of the night kind of ruined the evening for me. So much so that I am writing a review. I am the kind of customer who will call the restaurant the next day and thank them for a terrific evening...so I hope you understand this is most difficult for me to be writing a review that is NOT recommending this restaurant....Terrible service...and the worst part in South Beach is the tip is included on you bill...other wise there would have been NO tip.
TIPS (To insure prompt service)not the case at Maison d'Azur
With so many choices to eat in south beach, I am sure we won't be returning to Maison d'Azur.
