I stumbled across this place and decided to check it out - it looked nice enough. The menu is complete with many yummy sounding items (like Wow Man Woodworm Yung Lung... quite a nice dish) all these items are priced in a fair (and lovely) way.
We went for the basic dishes; my girlfriend opted straightaway for the Cream of Sum Yung Guy (a creamy soup). I ordered Dung Bum.
The service was excellent, the waiter almost sitting down with us at our table, feeding us himself and sometimes singing traditional Thai songs which sound like Britney spears having eaten too much garlic. And it is posy and snug place. We loved the mural design which is made to look like the wall is still being built~ original and of berry good taste (no pun intended).
But it was overall quite disappointing - the chicken in butter garlic sauce was pretty bad and tasted too buttery and too much garlic (we hate garlic and so it was not yummy and that was sad because we knew we were going to pay for it) and most of it tasted as if it were cooked with washing-up liquid (especially the Cream of Sum Yung Guy) and it was sad because we thought we had stumbled across an oyster in the vastness of Mumble's outlets. But khoi baht nahi! There must be better places in Mumbai and I promised my girlfriend that we would find them so I am not giving up hope yet. But meanwhile we have decided to cook at home, our favorite Thai dish still being hot 'n' Steamy which demands a lot of preparation and sometimes quite tiring to prepare but the pay-off is well worth the struggle.
One of the main great points about the place is that it doesn't serve alcohol - we hate places that serve alcohol and so we were happy to see no young teens and amateur adults thinking they are cool by drinking and drinking. Think about going there before going there because once you go there and you have order it is too late not to be there.
- Dung Bum: good enough ($4)
