This place is all about the bar.
Great cocktails, vibrant atmosphere, connected to the dining area yet still separated by a glass topped wall, the bar is the life of this place. Its the center piece architechurally as well - your eyes draw right to it as you enter the place.
The dining area still sells out though for the life of me I can't figure it's for the food. It's got to be the tourist trade. I'm sure has some local concierges in their back pocket driving hungry wine country travelers here.
If you are eating here I'd still eat at the bar. Full menu is available. Again it has a feel here that seems to draw you to the wood instead of to a table. More importantly though the bartenders are great conversationalists, are very attentive, adept at their jobs and you're sure to meet other foodies willing to have intelligent wine or food-centric conversation.
But that's only if you're going to eat here, which is don't really recommend. The food is always mediocre at best which in itself is sad since they started out so strong food-wise.
This is a meeting place, a cocktailers spot, a bar to bend elbows at without having to stoop to a dirty tavern. It begs good drinking but with a (dare I say it?) touch of class.
