I'm sure you've heard of it, everyone has. Here's the thing though, this isn't just a tourist trap. Cafe Du Monde is one of those rare places where the locals and tourists all agree. Prices are so reasonable and taste- it can't be beat. There is a reason Cafe Du Monde coffee and beniegt mixes in stores all over. There is also a reason that a local would spend an hour in line during Mardi Gras just to get some hot beniegts. They use a ridiculous amount of powdered sugar, and that may be a choking hazard, but that is the ONLY bad thing I could say about this place. Obviously they serve other treats and everything else it good too. Try some chickory coffee, and you won't go back to anything else, I promise!
The previous reviewer is right. There are many tourist traps in the Quarter but this isn't one of them. The beniegts are great and you can't beat the price. Go around the back and watch how they are made. Its really interesting. Try not to go during peak hours as they can get really busy.
