Here's why I love Pat O'briens. . . the red beans. It is a quasi-chain, meaning they have a few locations, but less than 10. And they don't have crappy chain quality food, it's the real deal. I love this place because when I am away from home, as school and now work have taken me away often, I can find me some red beans where ever I can find this place. Now let's talk about the drinks: they are good, they are strong, and they are usually 2 for 1! And, you get to take the glass home. Who can beat that? It isn't 5 star, you don't have to dress up, but it will impress. Outside seating and live music are a plus too. Check it out in New Orleans and in Orlando, I've tested those 2!
I have been there a few times. The atmosphere is great. The drinks are ok. The service was not that great. The beers were barely cold, almost warm. The server took more than 15 minutes to get our drinks and more than 20 minutes to bring the bill. It seemed like everything was in slow motion. And on top of that you have to wait in line to return your glass to get $3 back that they already charged you.
I spent three months in Fort Myers, this is one of my favorite places to eat. Juergen, one of the owners, is so welcoming. We got there during the lunch hour and had to wait for a table, we were in a rush to get back to work, he came over with a bottle of champagne and said, 'Relax, it's lunch, here have some champagne on the house!' The food is excellent, you must try the hamburger. The daily soups are always a treat. Staff is very friendly! I go there at least once a week.
