I stumbled across this place in college and have been devoted ever since. There are plenty of cookie-cutter French bistros strewn about the city, and there are, of course, the elite of the French restaurants that will blow your mind with superlative excellence and luxury, but Chez Napoleon holds a precious ground in between. The food is not particularly ambitious, but it is done with care and intelligence. Something less tangible, though, is the place's true distinguishing feature. It has a well-worn comfortable atmosphere that just puts one at ease. It is can be very eccentric (jigsaw puzzles of Napoleon take the place of paintings in most cases), but most people, I think, are eccentric. Grand Mere, the WWII war-bride chef, just has the ease and confidence to be herself.

Well alright to begin with saying I normally tend not to critique restos. Well... Recently, I visited Chez Napoleon in N.Y.. I found Chez Napoleon to generally be posh entirely, from decoration through the presentation. Wait staff in that restaurant was so awesome! The hospitality was fantastic. The quality not to mention amount of food ended up being great. The cost was just what we all expected though maybe a couple of bucks too expensive. Me and my friend had a terrific evening! So refreshing because there are numerous Manhattan restaurants that are lousy. Also was to see a NYC restaurant with out an excessive amount attitude. I'm a huge fan of the place. Go right now prior to when the news gets ridiculous. We will be back soon.
