About Inakaya

Our original restaurant in Japan was established and opened its first door in the heart of Roppongi, Tokyo in 1970, as the traditional "Robata-yaki" restaurant. Since then, Inakaya has been loved by substantial numbers of distinguished personalities, comprising of former President of the United States, Hollywood stars, and other celebrities and the epicureans from around the world for more than 30 years. "Robata" is the Japanese term that stands for "around a sunken hearth" and "yaki" means "grilling". Families used to gather around the hearth for dinner, which evolved into "Robata-yaki" style. It is knwn as a type of traditional cuisine, which features fresh ingredients grilled in proximity of guests' own ey. Foods are cooked on open-flame, its ancient but healthy grilling method of dropping excess oil has attained its popularity, and has spread throughout Japan. And nw it comes to New York!
