Had my first experience at Kellari. Walked in during the lunch rush and was lucky to get a seat at the bar. The bartender was working it...didn't drop one customer's request. For my orders I got the octopus appetizer, the keftedes (meatballs) and the saganaki (fried Greek cheese). The octopus was beautifully cooked; the keftedes were delicious...but I'm not quite sure how authentic these were...I guess I have been to too many Greek places in Astoria. I figure in Midtown you always gotta switch things up a bit. The saganaki was great. It had a little sweetness to it that went nicely with the rose I chose. The whole meal came out to about $65 (before tip).

    I Ate:

    • Octopus: Great ($17)
    • Keftedes: Good ($13)
    • Saganaki: Great ($13)
    • Rose Wine: Very Good ($9)

The meal in Kellari Taverna was really a decent experience. Let me just say I'm a huge Food person. The other day I went to Kellari Taverna in NY. I'm from SF though previously been to New York City a bunch of instances. My family and I enjoy the variation of bistros. I thought Kellari Taverna turn out to be polished all the way up, from the decoration through the presentation. Everyone at this particular restaurant incredibly pleasant! The decor was outstanding. Certainly one of my own problems had been the preso was not that amazing. The idea was fine though failed to offer you that "omg" element. The great quality as well as quantity of food seemed to be to first-class. Regardless of that no true issues. All in all Outstanding food! We had a wonderful night! So refreshing as there are lots of N.Y. restaurants that are bad. Also was to experience a NYC restaurant not having a lot of demeanor. I'm a enormous lover of the place. Go today before the publicity gets crazy. We will certainly be back again soon.
