About Nobu, Next Door

nbu Next Door, which opened as an extension of the original nbu, has nw taken on a life of its own. Opened in 1998 due to high demand, its menu mirrors the original nbu and offers nbu To Go. With its late night dining and music, nbu Next Door tends to draw a more spirited crowd. The restaurant satisfies those spontaneous diners who need the nbu fix, but didnt plan ahead, by offering first come, first serve table seating between the hours of 7:00pm and 9:00pm. nbu Next Door received a three star review from The New York Times. Designed by architect David Rockwell, nbu Next Door evokes the Japanese seaside: Japanese fishing nets hang from the ceiling and a wall made of nri (Japanese seaweed) blankets the entrance. There is also a huge display of lit sake bottles--the classic accompaniment to Japanese food. The atmosphere buzzes with the same energy and excitement as nbu yet definitely maintains an identity all its own.

User Reviews for Nobu, Next Door

food

β€œ... Much, much better and waiters are very, very pleasant. Will not recomment Nabu to anyone unless you want to waste money and eat lousy food...

ambiance

β€œ...Considering Nobu's reputation in New York City, you would think that you would be able to find soap in either of two bathrooms, and the bathrooms would be CLEAN, no less...

service

β€œ...My husband took me to celebrate my birthday last Saturday. We were very disapponted when we came out...

value

β€œ...Having heard so much about the Nobu brand we were thrilled to get reservations at Nobu Next Door during restaurant week. Unfortunately i think the hype...

sushi

β€œ... No smile or happy birthday. sushi sucks!!!! Eaten much better elsewhere...

Nobu Next Door is the neighbor-hood friendly version of the more posh Nobu. It is an insider's place...for those who love the food at Nobu but don't want to rub shoulders with the B+T crowd that waited a month for their reservations.

The miso marinated Black Cod is the dish that really shines at these establishments. The yellowtail with jalapeno is another classic that has since been co-opted by many of the everday sushi joints. However, at Nobu, they are always innovating, so don't be afraid to try anything. Nobu's cookbook is also a terrifc aide-de-camp in the kitchen -- his salads are terrific.

Nobu Next Door was an extension to the original Nobu, do to high demand. This place is just a good, and sometimes better, than its predecessor. Often times, there is a much livelier crowd here, and the optional To Go menu is an awesome feature. Great food, great atmosphere - you won't be disappointed.

The meal at Nobu, Next Door was a incredible experience. Where to begin? Recently, on holiday I visited Nobu, Next Door in New York. Such a enjoyable and enjoyable mealWait staff at the restaurant was so pleasant! The event was fantastic. The food arrived very fast. Probably one of my personal gripes had been the plating wasn't that incredible. The idea was good but didn't ensure that you get that "wow" vibe. The the level of quality along with quantity of food seemed to be to fantastic. From the two or 3 apps and Two entrees we ordered, We would say 3 as wonderful & One as very decent All in all Outstanding food! The cost was basically just what we estimated though perhaps a couple of bucks overly pricy. I'm a enormous fan of the place. Experience this today before the news gets crazy. We definitely will be back soon.
