About Osteria Del Circo

New York City - The bright blue circus ring is hung with gold stars and sculptures of monkeys swing near the striped pole. Thereťs even a nt-so-ferocious lion poised near the entrance. Curious clowns peep down from over the open kitchen and trapezes sail above the bar. Midtown Manhattanťs newly refurbished Osteria del Circo (Circus Tavern) continues to delight the ladies, gentlemen and children of all ages as it has for the past nine years. This sophisticated big top, one of the cityťs most popular restaurants, is the creation of restaurateur Sirio Maccioni, proprietor of Le Cirque, his wife Egidiana, who is the supervising chef, and their sons, Mario, Marco and Mauro. Designed by Adam Tihany to be as exciting as a European carnival tent, the colorful dťcor of Circo (pronunced ťCheer-coť) is innvative, whimsical and vibrant. But, unlike a circus tent, the restaurant is comfortable, the fabrics luxurious and the custom-designed Italian chairs deep and seductive.
