I don't normally go for immitation meats, but this place does a very good job. I highly recommend the Chicken Satay. I also enjoy their pistachio and mint chocolate chip shakes.

I have meateater friends who swear by this place. The food is super filling, not your usual vegetarian fare. The ingredients are still healthy, but it is soul food after all and there is a lot of frying involved. Still, this is definitely one of my favorite veggie places in the city. The fish is so fish like you will be amazed.
I Ate:
- fish cakes with mango: delicious ($11)

Red Bamboo is one of my 3 staple places to go for veggie food. I'm not usually a fan of Asian food but Red Bamboo has a very large menu that includes a number of non-Asian meals. Everything I've had has been great and the atmosphere is good. They even have very good 'meat' substitutes for the non-vegan crowd.

Red Bamboo is excellent, but for some reason doesn't stand out in my mind as one of the best vegetarian restaurants in New York. I don't know why, it's pretty good, though the service is only OK. It's got a strange mix of food, everything from creole dishes to asian dishes to traditional American. Where else can you get Caribbean Jerk Spiced Seitan, BBQ Buffalo Wings, and a Seoul Pancake? I think the appetizers are the way to go here, I prefer getting a bunch of those, instead of just one of the entrees.
I Ate:
- Caribbean Jerk Spiced Seitan: spicy! tasty ($8)

My dining event at Red Bamboo was a incredible experience. Let me just say I'm a serious foody. So... Recently, traveling I visited Red Bamboo in NYC. I found Red Bamboo turn out to be polished all the way, from the style through the appearance. Everyone in that restaurant was very pleasant! The hospitality was fantastic. The entrees arrived really quick. Now the the level of quality and amount of food ended up being fine. Of the couple of starter items -n- 2 entrees we ordered, I'd rate 3 as outstanding and 1 as really decent Excellent food! We will certainly be back soon.
