User Reviews for Morimoto
I expected an incredible meal as I am an avid fan of Iron Chef and that is what I got.
I ate way too much food. The kumamoto oysters were by far the best. The spicy king crab leg is a must have as well. The only thing that hurts is the price tag.
Morimoto used to be awesome, my friends and I would drive 3-hrs to Philly, a few times a year. We would always order his $120 Omakase (tasting menu) dinner, lately we haven't been impress. There's no longer any creativity, used to be, we'd get creations that's not from their menu. These days, they are just smaller portions of what's on their menu. Don't get me wrong, FOOD is still DELICIOUS. I give credit to Morimoto, we complained on one of his dishes being subpar, and he gave us a complimentary LIVE LOBSTER SASHIMI. The head of the lobster sans tail was on a bowl of ice. Lobster is literally looking at us eating its sashim'd tail. If you never been there order the Omakase, otherwise just order sushi.
The 100 Dollar omakase menu was worth every penny. The meals were small but i was filled anyway. I wish i could get a yamamo again. they are the best fruits ever.
My girlfriend and I decided to splurge here for Valentine's Day/our anniversary last year. I had high expectations, with Morimoto being my favorite Iron Chef, and he did not disappoint. We both had the $100 Omakase with the drink omakase with it. My girlfriend had a strictly red wine drink omakase and I had a regular one...they were more than happy to field any special requests. At one point, my girlfriend didn't like one of her courses and they replaced it without hassle or complaint. The food was absolutely excellent, and even though Morimoto rarely visits Philadelphia, the standards and quality he is held to is strictly upheld here. The food was delicious, the service 100% knowledgeable, and the atmosphere was excellent. the color-changing booths really add an extra level of ambiance to the place; although, with the quality of the food, you could be sitting at a picnic table in the back alley and still have a great time. The omakase included a red snapper carpaccio, halibut, a platter of sushi rolls, and so many other great dishes. It seemed like the great food would never stop coming, and we were completely satisfied with everything we had been served at the end of the night.
