Stop in for a coffee and dessert. And bring your laptop as well and stay a while they have WiFi. Very good desserts.
Frankly, the food at Fireworks is underwhelming. While a lot of Lincolnites have ventured there, lured by the awesome Haymarket location and the well-earned reputation of their sister restaurant, Lazlo's, they come away unimpressed by the often lackluster main entrees. The d?cor of the restaurant is beautifully appointed in warm wood with many tastefully colored booths and some tables. Even the restrooms are nice and have the neatest faucet/basins. But you're not going to a restaurant for their restrooms. We've eaten quite a few things on the menu. It is a slightly eclectic and inspired, but not very tasty menu. Better ribs can be found elsewhere in Lincoln. If anything, make sure you eat the bread, which is a grainy cornbread with real corn kernels, and their fabulous whipped maple-butter. Also, order a side salad, which is one of the best salads in Lincoln. The fresh sweet corn, ice cold green beans, and Fireworks' slightly spicy take on ranch dressing sets these salads apart. Their vinaigrette is also tasty, although the ranch really does this salad more justice. Out of the many things on the menu, we've found a few favorites to definitely stick to. Their ?pub club? sandwich is a definite keeper, as is the Caribbean chicken. The vegetables offered are the same as Lazlo's, crisp, grilled, always fresh, and worth getting. Mashed potatoes are also shared between restaurants and I've never been a fan, nor has my friend, as they have a strange taste that is not garlic, nor normal mashed potatoes. Most of the people I know tend to avoid their mashed potatoes after trying them once. Desserts are pretty good. Prices are a little high, with the sandwiches being the most reasonable thing on the menu at around $7. Other entrees will run you from $9-22. Servers operate under the ?team waiting? concept, and servers are always friendly, although not always completely competent. The management is assiduous in making sure that you're pleased with your meal and are very helpful if anything is wrong.
