User Reviews for Pasta Luna

Pasta Luna is in need of some serious help. The sooner the better. It formerly used to be one of Richmond's premier Italian restaurants, as voted by locals through Richmond Magazine and other respectable sources. Lately, this venerable and established eatery has gone downhill very quickly. It is in need of an immediate fix, or else I predict its doors will close by the end of 2009. Pasta Luna was never an inexpensive restaurant, but it always had good, quality food served in hearty, family style portions. However, as of late, the management has allowed the quality of the food to suffer, as well as the service and general ambiance. On a recent visit, it felt like there was no heat in the building, although it was 40 degrees outside. Diners were all wearing their coats. This is not any way to enjoy a meal. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs (a simple favorite) and it came with meat sauce (NO meatballs). When I asked where the meatballs were, the waiter said "they ran out." Excuse me? An Italian restaurant ran out of meatballs? The coffee I was served was cold and it took forever to get a waiter's attention to have it refilled. And when it was refilled, it was filled with hot, bitter OLD coffee! My fellow diners and I were all disappointed in our meals, the service and the general atmosphere. And in speaking with others who dined there lately, I've been told there have been similar experiences. In fact, as of today, the Pasta Luna Web site is down, leading me to believe they may be taking some steps to remedy the problems. I am personally disappointed to see a local favorite get into trouble with its loyal patrons, but I really am unable to recommend Pasta Luna at this point. As they say, "buyer beware." Be an informed consumer, and if you do go, demand that your food and service are up to par.
