There are numerous ethnic food options along West Broad Street, including a dozen or more Chinese restaurants, all with their own versions of traditional favorites. Yen Ching is no different than most in that it has a large menu of traditional Chinese fare at reasonable prices. The one thing you can say about Yen Ching is that they have been in the same spot for A LONG TIME and have been one of the most respected Chinese restaurants in the West Broad Street corridor. The best time to visit Yen Ching is at lunchtime. That's when you have your option of traditional combination plates (probably about 40 different choices, including many vegetarian options) and a new luncheon buffet, for parties of five or more. The buffet is perfect if you're hosting a business meeting and want to limit choices. For just $7.50 a person, you can get soup, appetizer and a choice of entrees. This is a very good deal. Yen Ching's food is solidly good. Service is typical - usually quite speedy. The menu offers good choics, my favorites being General Tso's chicken and Shredded Pork, Szechuan style. I also recommend the Egg Foo Young. Yen Ching has a very loyal following in this town. You can't beat the prices, service, portions or the taste of the food.
