Huckleberry Cafe recently opened their doors to a Santa Monica neighborhood that has been hankering for a local "trendy" eatery of their own (they're still trying to adjust their normal working hours). The cafe itself is reminiscent of Joan's on 3rd - a high end deli/eatery you have to stand in line to place your order and then find a table with the number they give you so the server can bring you your food (Keep in mind that there are explicit signs asking patrons not to find a table until AFTER they have placed their order). The food is fairly fresh and all the baked goods are baked on-site. I don't really have any complaints on their food but the prices they charge are a bit exorbitant for simple cafe food. Their breakfast dish "Green Eggs and Ham" has become their signature dish and resembles an eggs benedict concoction with green pesto sauce and mounds of fresh, baby arugula placed on top of the egg. I would definitely come back here since it's got a great vibe although the prices may make you think twice.
