The Lady & Sons is the restaurant in Savannah, GA that is owned/ ran by Paula Dean and her two sons (all of whom have been made famous by Food Network). I had heard only good things about this establishment and my wife and I were eager to try it on our most recent trip to Savannah. Unfortunately our visit can be summed up in 1 hyphenated word: over-rated! First, just to get a table is rediculous. There is a two step process that basically results in standing in a line for 30 minutes before they even start taking names. Think foodies version of standing in line for a Star Wars movie the day before it opens. We went for lunch and got a table around 11 am. The service was decent. I think that we had the "new guy" as our server so I won't be too critical, but we did have to request items more than once. When you order you can get their buffet (which varies daily) or order from the menu. We decided to order from the menu. This may be where we went wrong. The seafood was overcooked, and it would take a lot to convince me that it was "fresh, not frozen". The buffet may be better, may be where all of the chef's attention is at, not that I'll find out. I won't be waiting in that long line anytime soon.
