Landry's Seafood is to be avoided at all costs. After passing the restaurant several times on the way to and from work, I figured that Landry's might be worth a shot. My boyfriend and I made reservations for a Saturday night and were excited to check the place out. We were sorely mistaken. When we walked in there was NO ONE there. Clearly we didn't need reservations because no one eats there (first red flag.) The decor of the whole place was highly reminiscent of something one might find inside your local Long John Silver's which is fine if you're eating fast food. Unfortunately, everything on the menu (even though it tastes like fast food) is not at all priced as such. The wine menu is almost non existent and the cheapest entree on the whole menu is about $25 and not worth it at all. Our server had absolutely no idea what he was talking about as he flustered through our questions and completely failed to provide any real assistance. I ordered the broiled seafood platter and good gracious what a mistake. The fish was extremely overcooked. The shrimp was chewy and tasteless. The rice and broccoli were cold. The whole entree was simply revolting and nowhere near the price. My boyfriend's entree was equally atrocious. We barely touched the food and didn't even ask to box up the remainders. The restaurants only saving grace is it's location which is situated on the shore of the Tampa Bay. However, the table we were seated at was as far away from the windows as possible despite the fact that scarcely anyone else was in the restaurant. To our dismay the bill at the end of our meal (for only 2 people, mind you) was almost $200 and with tip well over that. It was in no way worth any of the money we wasted on it. Needless to say we will not be back ever again.
I've been to Legacy Cafe In St.Louis, Missouri once. But that's all it really took for me to feel like I was at home, and enjoy the peace and calm atmosphere. I dont know who idea it was for this exact place, or the excellent purpose...but it's postive, it's mature (no fighting). It's a actually trhe only place i've been to where a group of black people can get together (without arguing and fighting), and have a really good time.
