Mr. Momofuku Ando died last Friday. Most people have never heard of the man, but he is the one responsible for College students all over the world being able to eat on their small budgets. Mr. Momofuku was the creator of Ramen Noodle (1948). Which, although I am a self-titled foodie I still love. He created Ramen without anyone’s help, in the hopes of feeding the working masses.
There may not be a better meal than Ramen. You get something like 10 packs for a dollar, enough to feed you for a week. All you have to do is boil water and add the delicious flavor packet. Even better, if you get the “creamy chicken flavor”; boil the noodles, leave very little water and add the flavor package. That is my favorite Ramen ever, creamy, warm and delicious. Another of my favorite Ramen recipes is to boil the noodles as a soup, add the flavor pack, add peas and carrots, and a scrambled egg. This soup is comforing, yummy and inexpensive.
I hope that we all take a moment of silence for Mr. Momofuku: an inventor, a man of the people, and above all a man who wanted to bring full bellies to the world…A TRUE FOODIE!!!
